Itinerary

Day 1 Frankfurt - Würzburg (119 km)

Travel assistance upon arrival in Frankfurt. Our representative will help you to pick up your rental car at the airport and hand over your travel documents. You start your tour with a visit of Würzburg. Surrounded by vineyards, the former seat of the Episcopal diocese is now a lively university town.

 

Day 2 Würzburg - Rothenburg ob der Tauber - Nuremberg (172 km)

Continue your trip to Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Rothenburg is one of the oldest cities on the so-called “Romantic Route”. In the afternoon you leave for Nuremberg. Nuremberg offers an interesting and harmonious blend of a modern and medieval city.

Day 3 Nuremberg - Regensburg - Passau (226 km)

Drive to Regensburg in the morning. The city boasts a rich collection of buildings from the 12th to 14th century, inspired by Italian-style architecture. Continue your trip to Passau. This city, on the border between Germany and Austria, has a very privileged location on the Danube, the Inn and the Ilz rivers.

 

Day 4 Passau - Salzburg (115 km)

After breakfast you drive to Salzburg, the center of Austrian baroque and the birthplace of composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, whose influence can be found wherever you go. Surrounded by mountains, Salzburg’s setting is quite spectacular.

 

Day 5 Salzburg - Berchtesgaden - Bad Reichenhall (54 km)

This morning you drive to Berchtesgaden, surrounded by the peaks of Watzmann, the “Stone Sea“ and the mountains of the Hagengebirge, a perfect starting point for many excursions and tours. Enjoy a boat tour on the Königssee and listen to the famous echo. Overnight stay in Bad Reichenhall, a spa resort with salt mines and a mystical atmosphere.

 

Day 6 Bad Reichenhall - Garmisch-Partenkirchen - Zugspitze (170 km)

This morning you travel to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the capital of winter sports. Here you will find Germany’s highest mountain peak, the Zugspitze (2.962 m). We recommend the cable car ride to the top of Zugspitze. The views from the top of this mountain are truly spectacular.

Day 7 Garmisch-Partenkirchen - Neuschwanstein - Munich (190 km)

In the morning you travel to the Neuschwanstein Castle, built by Ludwig II, who was also known as the “Mad King”. The palace he created seems to have stepped straight out of a fairytale. Finish your drive in Munich.

 

Day 8 Munich

Munich, the capital of Bavaria, is famous, for its Beer Festival (Oktoberfest) celebrated at the end of September and early October. Overnight stay in Munich.

Day 9 Munich - Augsburg - Frankfurt (428 km)

You have the option of flying back from Munich or driving back to Frankfurt. If you choose to drive back to Frankfurt, we recommend a brief stop in Augsburg to visit the picturesque neighborhood of Fuggerei, built to house the city´s poor. Drive to the airport of Frankfurt to return your rental car before boarding your flight.
